Mrs. Smith, a school counseling intern from Purdue University, met with Mrs. Crum's 6th grade classes recently to discuss the topics of empathy and random acts of kindness. The students were asked to act out scenarios about students being mistreated at school and in the community. They then turned their focus to brainstorming ideas about how to help other students who have been mistreated. Mrs. Smith used their ideas, along with other proven methods, to encourage students to put these random acts of kindness into action. The students were further encouraged to spread random acts of kindness throughout the school and into the community. To help promote these random acts of kindness, students were asked to document how they are being #raktivists (random acts of kindness activists) by using the hashtag "#ETRAK" on social media.
