Tech Ed

Technology Education is an exciting combination of many subjects, popularly referred to as STEM: the integration of science, technology, engineering and math into our curriculum, rooted in the engineering design process. Tech Ed is a great opportunity to see and learn how all of these fields work together. We live in a global world, and it is now more important than ever that our children learn problem solving, teamwork, and written and verbal communication in order to be successful.

Sixth grade students take grade students each have one semester of Tech Ed with many engineering design challenges. Some of the most exciting units may include robotics with Lego Spike robots, principles of space and flight, micro:bit electronics, and understanding simple machines ... all while using the engineering design process.

New in 2026 for 8th grade is Computing Foundations for a Digital Age. In the course students will learn how computers and the internet have revolutionized the way we access and disseminate information. As technology continues to change at an ever-increasing pace, the need for students to gain a foundational understanding of computer science is clear. Computing Foundations for a Digital Age is designed to introduce students to five major topics within computer science including computing systems, networks and the internet, data and analysis, algorithms and planning, and impacts of computing. The course introduces foundational computing concepts while exploring current events and building critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and other important skills that are invaluable for life in a global and technologically advancing society  

The  8th grade class, Computing Foundations for a Digital Age, is required for graduation in all Indiana public high schools starting with the class of 2029.  This 8th grade class does meet that graduation requirement and this course does count as a high school class within all of Tippecanoe School Corporation.
