Making Good Decisions
the sixth-grade team

East Tipp Sixth Grade Physical Education and Health classes welcomed a guest speaker from the M.A.D.D. organization who shared an important and impactful message about the dangers of alcohol use and impaired driving. The presenter, Denise Niblick, spoke to the middle schoolers about the serious consequences of alcohol consumption and drug usage, especially for young people, and how it can impair judgment and reaction times behind the wheel. Through personal stories and powerful visuals, students were encouraged to make responsible decisions and think critically about the risks associated with alcohol and other drugs. The session was part of an ongoing effort to promote safe, healthy choices among students and raise awareness about the importance of responsible behavior on the road.

In addition to the presentation on alcohol use and impaired driving, students also had the opportunity to hear from a representative from the YWCA, Jen Bushore, who addressed key topics related to student well-being. The speaker led an insightful discussion on healthy relationships, the importance of respect, and how to recognize and address bullying and harassment. Discussion also included the challenges of social media and advice on how to stay safe online and use platforms responsibly. The session aimed to empower students with the knowledge and tools to navigate social challenges, build positive relationships, and promote kindness and respect both in person and online.
