We Have Liftoff!
the Seventh-Grade Team
Seventh-Grade Science students are combining their knowledge of Newton’s Laws of Motion, gravity, and forces with their engineering skills to create rockets from repurposed two-liter bottles. Students also are using a clinometer to measure angles of elevation and even a little trigonometry to calculate each rocket's height. Through three launches, students predict how much water should be put into each rocket in order to achieve optimal height while maintaining a constant 60 psi of air pressure. This project allows students opportunities to apply skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
