Students in 6th-grade had the opportunity to visit the new Junior Achievement Biztown at the Greater Lafayette YMCA. The students got the opportunity to "work like an adult". They learn about all the responsibilities adults have such as the responsibility of their job, owning a home, managing finances, scheduling appointments, everyday events, etc. The students get hands on and are assigned careers based on interest of choice to make the real-world connection of participating within a community as an adult. Along with their career choice, students are given a salary in which they have to work with to create their budget for their expenses. The students enjoyed this experience and helped them understand the many responsibilities of being an adult citizen.
