ETMS Maker Space in the STEAM Lab is in full swing this year. Students have had a chance to escape to the STEAM Lab after solving a variety of puzzles to get codes that open locks eventually allowing them to enter into the lab to complete a small building challenge using several different tools. The kids also learned the science behind ice cream and got to make their own and eat it of course. During this same lab, they began to develop an entrepreneurial plan for an ice cream cart (and built a model) for use at school events to raise funds for school projects and equipment ... to be continued. The lab is also open before and after school periodically for students to work on class assigned projects when they need extra time and/or help.
As the semester come to and end, the last two Maker Spaces in the STEAM Lab will give students the opportunity to make Christmas gifts for friends and family using a variety of power and hands tools, as well as a 3D printer. There will be several more Maker Spaces in the STEAM Lab during the spring semester so stay tuned to school announcements for those dates. If you are ever at ETMS, come in and see the many exciting things making in the STEAM Lab.
